Cali Native The WestWolf Drops His New Single “Tell The Truth”

California native and Hip-Hop star James Washington also known as The WestWolf is heating up the streets with his latest single “Tell The Truth”. While WestWolf is a rising hip-hop artist and producer he is also one of the very first creators of G-Hop a new Westcoast genre. The collaboration credits on his discography stack up high including Hip Hop stars like Pastor Troy, Ac3 on the beat, Kokane, Maurice Morgan, Dj Lazy K, etc…

WestWolf knew he wanted to fully pursue music as a career when he won a rap battle when he was a freshman around the age of 15 in a city high school event. He was the only freshman on the entire stage against seniors. From a very young age, he also had a unique ability to predict singles on albums before they dropped by how he heard the music in his head. You can tell by listening to some of the tracks he definitely is musically inclined. I was interested to get more information on how he came up with his stage name. He said the name ultimately came from a rap line he used years ago and it stuck ever since with some of his close friends so he decided to keep it around.

His sound is different based on how he hears and sees his vision from his own perspective with the essence of great music he studied growing up as a fan. WestWolf has a lot of interest in working with top hip-hop stars such as Pharrell, Dom Kennedy, and Kendrick Lamar. By his sound, you can tell these artists will mash very well together sometime in the near future. His whole catalog is stacked with tracks you can hear these artists on whether it is a hook or verse, the track would be a definite hit.

Taking a listen to his latest “Tell The Truth” honestly you can tell that he is in his bag. With an upbeat west coast club instrumental in the background his flow and delivery are in the pocket on every line on the top. The track is also complimented by talented artist Maurice Morgan. While the track has been sat on for a few years it was rerecorded this year. Wolf and Maurice linked up and created a new raw vibe around the song… I played with a hook concept for about a month.

West Wolf’s favorite track is the song he did for a DJ lazy K mixtape called “Let me talk 2'em” because he definitely went in and at the time was in a zone where everything he wrote just couldn’t miss. Wolf Stated…

“It was all one take and it was dangerous at that moment I felt I could out rap anyone. So I put a lyrical assault together and gave warning, commentary, and introduction of myself all in 1 song”

Wolf has two short EP releases and more music with collaborations on the way. He is in the studio every day creating new music for his fans and newer audience. He also plans on releasing some music videos this year including one for his new single and some visuals for his beat website for exclusive purchasing.
